Troubled Visions, the third solo exhibition of 26 year old Ivatan artist Randalf Dilla will be exhibited from September 19 to October 30 at the Hiraya Gallery.
Dilla’s works show mastery of the photo realism technique. All eight works in oil on canvas are imposing because of the complex themes and images they show. When asked about his inspiration for his works, Dilla commented that he has a penchant for themes on man in difficult and complex dimensions as in a dream.
In Gravity Zero, he envisions a future where technology will mass produce humans to do specific tasks for a polluted and dangerous environment. Gravity here is actually a representation of the value of life.
In Battle of Spolarium, Dilla laments the lack of knowledge of the arts among the youth today. When asked ‘What is the Spolarium?’ many will say it is the title of a song by a rock band.
Randalf Dilla hails from Basco, Batanes. He is a Fine Arts Major from FEATI University, graduated with distinction in 2008.
